Troodos Visitors Center

The Troodos Visitors Center is located near Troodos Square in Troodos Village, within the Limassol district of Cyprus.

This education center focuses on the Troodos National Forest Park, which was established in 1992 and spans over 90 km2.  It features about 800 types of flora, including some plants that only exist in the Troodos region.

The Troodos Visitors Center opened in July 2002, and it features an exhibition gallery, interactive map, 10 minute film, and nature trail.

The Exhibition Gallery has various displays of nature and animals that are commonly found in the Troodos region.

The Botanical and Geological Trail is a 250 meter nature trail that highlights some of the different plants, trees, rocks, and other natural items typically found in the area.

According to the brochure provided by the Troodos Visitor Center:  "Troodos is widely known as one of the most important mountainous habitats of plants in Europe.  The uniqueness of the Park's flora is mainly the result of the specific climatic conditions created by the high altitudes and the peculiar geological substratum.  The Park provides refuge to nearly 800 different plant taxa, among them 72 endemics.  Of that they cannot be found anywhere else in the world.  They can only be found growing naturally in the Troodos Park.  Along the trail, 30 plants, typical of the Park's higher elevations are displayed."

The Troodos Visitors Center is an interesting place to visit, while exploring the Troodos region of Cyprus.
