Stavros tis Psokas Picnic Site

The Stavros tis Psokas Picnic Site and Campground is located in the Paphos Forest, near Cedar Valley, and about 26 km from the Kykkos Monastery, within the Paphos district of Cyprus.

This picnic site and campground is situated near the Stavros tis Psokas Forest Station, which was once a former monastery.  Nearby, there's the Holy Cross Church (also known as the Chapel of the Holy Cross).

The Paphos Forest is mostly an uninhabited area, except around the edges of the forest area.  Over 600 different plant species, including 50 native plants to Cyprus, are located within the forest area.

The Cyprus Cedar tree is quite common in the Paphos Forest.  These trees form a unique natural forest along the Tripylos area and Cedar Valley, which are both part of a protected nature reserve in Cyprus.

The Cypriot moufflon (also known as mouflon) is considered native and unique to Cyprus.  It was almost extinct during the 20th century, yet the moufflon is now quite populated within the Paphos Forest, Cedar Valley, and particularly the Tripylos area.  There's a Moufflon Enclosure near the Stavros tis Psokas Forest Station, which will be featured in an upcoming blog post.

The Stavros tis Psokas Picnic Site, Campground, and Forest Station are in a fairly remote location, yet enjoyable to visit, particularly for the tourist and locals wanting to explore the Paphos Forest, Cedar Valley, and Moufflon Enclosure.
