Panagia Angeloktisti Church

The Panagia Angeloktisti Church (also known as Panagia tis Aggeloktistis Church) is located in Kiti Village, which is about 11 km from the city of Larnaca, within the Larnaca district of Cyprus.

This Byzantine church was built in the 11th century over the ruins of a 5th century Early Christian Basilica.

From the original ancient ruins, the original apse is still intact, as well as a 6th century mosaic of Mary and baby Jesus situated between the archangels of Michael and Gabriel.  This mosaic is a rare work of art, especially since 6th century mosaics have only been discovered in Cyprus and Mount Sinai.

Also, there are 13th century frescoes within the church.

The Panagia Angeloktisti Church is a lovely place to visit for both locals and tourists.
