Lefkara Local Museum

The Lefkara Local Museum (also known as Lefkara Lace and Silverware Museum, the Traditional Embroidery and Silversmith Work Museum, and the Lefkara Folk Art, Embroidery, and Silversmithing Museum) is located in Pano Lefkara Village, within the Larnaca district of Cyprus.

This museum is situated within the House of Pastsalos, which was built in during the 19th century and donated to the Cypriot Department of Antiquities in 1983.  After it's restoration, the Lefkara Museum opened to the public in 1988.

This museum primarily demonstrates life in Lefkara about 100 years ago, by featuring the furniture and items of a wealthy Cypriot family, as well as traditional Lefkara lacework and silversmith items.

According to the Get to Know Lefkara brochure, "The museum is in a 19th century mansion (the Patsalos Residence), where time has stopped and everything reminds the visitor of the past.  The sofas, the big wood carved mirrors, the old beds, and the costumes of the house's dignitary and noblewoman are some of the wonderful exhibits of the museum.  The pride of the museum, however, is the old collection of the 19th century Lefkaritiko Lace embroideries which is exhibited in one of its rooms."

There are several museum rooms near the courtyard area, as well as an outdoor stairway leading to the upper level with more of the museum to view.

The Lefkara Museum is an interesting site to visit, while exploring the Lefkara Villages.
