Deryneia Village and Famagusta Viewpoint

Deryneia Village (also known as Dherynia Village) is located near Paralimni Village and about 12 km from the city of Ayia Napa, within the Famagusta district of Cyprus.

Deryneia Village is in the Kokkinochoria region, due to the rich red soil that's ideal for farmland.  This village is actually located about 2 km from the city of Varosha, which is considered a "ghost town," since it's situated along the Green Line and in Northern Cyprus.

Near Deryneia Village, there's the Famagusta Viewpoint (also known as the Cultural Center of the Occupied Famagusta).  Visitors are able to view Northern Cyprus, as well as the abandoned city of Varosha, which is sometimes called Famagusta.  Before 1974, Varosha was considered the most popular tourist destination in Cyprus.

The Famagusta Viewpoint is worth visiting to view the abandoned city of Varosha from a distance.
